Trophy Management
At Bostick Plantation
Bostick Plantation's management techniques are state-of-the-art. Our qualified staff has worked closely with State DNR personnel, professional wildlife biologists and game management experts for more than 25 years to develop a wildlife management plan that gives us the results we insisted on to manage the growing population of trophy game within the boundaries of our Plantation. Our wildlife habitat is a very unique mixture of cypress swamps, oak flats and ridges, planted pines, crop land, rye patches and food plots, all of which are very carefully managed for trophy game. The end result has been highly successful, producing one of the finest commercial hunting operations in the South.
Hundreds of acres planted in corn and soybeans guarantee plenty of food for the wildlife on the Plantation. In areas not under general farming, we plant peas and rye. We make sure that there is not only enough food available to support the wildlife that typically stays on the Plantation, but we have enough feed to attract a significant amount of wildlife from the surrounding properties.
We do not allow any buck to be harvested unless it has a spread of at least 16". We want all of our younger bucks to have the opportunity to grow up, mature, and become a trophy for some lucky hunter in another season or two. Our very strict Trophy Management Plan combined with our habitat management program have allowed us to maintain some of the BEST HUNTING in the South! We also implement Trophy Management for our turkey population, only allowing longbeard gobblers to be taken. We do not allow jakes to be harvested. We want them to grow up and be a trophy the following season.
To assist our trophy hunters in their quest for a trophy of a lifetime, we have erected deer stands at proven high performance locations, spots where those big 10 and 12 point trophies are likely to frequent. Bostick Plantation stands have been constructed with hunter comfort, safety, and concealment in mind. Most of our stands are covered to afford our hunters protection from the rain. Our staff of guides always make sure that plenty of feed is put out near a stand and that the deer are feeding on it regularly before you will be put on any stand. You are allowed 1 deer per day. You may also take one boar per day. Doe tags are available from September 15 until January 1.
